2026 so far: cute meets carnage
Quackers is ELK doing what ELK does — a 6×6 grid, four resident ducks that each bring their own feature, a global multiplier, a Coin Game, and Bonus plus Super Bonus rounds under a deliberately adorable art style. Top-config RTP is 96%, and like most modern studios ELK licenses lower builds, so check the lobby’s info panel. After eighteen months of hunting-themed ducks, something this friendly is almost a palate cleanser.
January’s Happy Hour is the opposite proposition. Nolimit reran the Duck Hunters formula at a bar: 4-5-6-6-5-4 reels, xWays and 3×3 bombs, position multipliers to x8192, and a 33,333x cap the studio itself prices at odds of roughly 1 in 24.3 million. Default RTP sits at 96.07% with 94.04% and 92.07% operator builds in circulation. Early access ran from 6 January; wide release followed on the 13th.
2025: the year the niche took off
February’s Duck Hunters set the tone — 30,000x, extreme volatility, and enough momentum to win Bigwinboard’s game of the year for 2025. From there the calendar barely paused. May brought Duck Hunt 500 from AvatarUX, whose Hunter’s Shot feature fires at the reels for instant duck prizes and multipliers (96.02% default; 94.02% and 90.46% builds exist). June sidestepped slots entirely: Ducks.io streams eight physical plastic ducks racing an artificial river, a new heat every five minutes, 24/7.
July’s Turbo Duck put the bird in a mech suit — Stakelogic gave it Turbo Blast multipliers, Mystery Wilds and three escalating bonus modes, capped at 6,000x (up to €480,000). August added Pateplay’s Quack Squad, 243 ways with a silver-and-gold Dual Wheel and a 10,000x ceiling. October went offline: Konami’s What the Duck — Dusty & Snowy cabinets, first shown at G2E 2024, reached US floors with a giant cowboy drake and a fixed $10,000 top award. No online version exists.
The 2024 wave that started it
Duck King arrived quietly in June 2024 — an arcade shooter where every shot is a bet, still the only one of its kind. October delivered a double: Pragmatic Play’s limited-distribution Lucky Ducker and NetGame’s Rubber Duck Hold’n’Link (most catalogs log it in October; some list late August). December closed the year loudly. Capecod shipped a crash game and its slot sequel on the same day, 9 December. A week later BGaming released Lucky Ducky alongside its X-mas edition — and its 97.25% default RTP has led the niche ever since.
Coming up: Duck Hunters 2
The sequel is confirmed: a Duck Hunters 2 page is already live on Nolimit City’s site as of July 2026, with the date, RTP and mechanics still unannounced. Given the first game’s awards run and Happy Hour’s numbers, this is the most anticipated duck release there has ever been — a low bar historically, a real one now. What we’re not listing as upcoming: rumored variants and aggregator ghosts. A “Duck Shooter Crystal Chance” floats around some free-play portals, but nothing confirms it as a separate release rather than a repackaged Duck Shooter, so it stays off the timeline until a provider page says otherwise. Same standard applies to everything here — if you can’t demo it or a studio hasn’t announced it, it isn’t news yet.
