Pragmatic Play took its most profitable idea of the decade — the Big Bass money-collect formula — and swapped the fish for ducks. Big Duck Splash 1000 is the high-volatility half of that experiment: 96.52% RTP, a 12,500x cap, money ducks worth up to 1,000x, and a Super Free Spins buy that costs 450x and floods the reels with those thousand-x birds. It launched on 27 August 2026 and it is a Stake exclusive: you will not find it in any other lobby, which is a first for the duck niche.

We put it through Fun Play and a short real-money session at Stake, screenshots included below. The short version: it is Big Bass Splash with a beagle, a hunter and a lake, and if you already know that game you already know most of this one. The long version follows, including the place where Stake’s own game card disagrees with the rules screen.

Where to Play Big Duck Splash 1000

This is the easy part of the review. The game carries an Only on Stake badge on its splash screen and in Stake’s game categories, so there is exactly one lobby that has it.

The base game: ducks that carry price tags

Ten fixed lines, five reels, three rows. The paying symbols are a beagle puppy (the premium), a hunting hat with shells, binoculars, a hunting permit, a family of ducks, and the A-to-10 royals carved out of wood. At a $2 bet five puppies pay $500250x the bet — while five hats pay $250 and five binoculars or permits pay $125. Five royals are worth $12.50 to $25. Two puppies already pay, which is the game’s one concession to a low-variance mood.

The ducks are the interesting symbol. Every spin, each duck lands with a random money value printed under it — 2x to 100x normally, 1,000x if you are lucky — but in the base game those values are decoration. Nothing collects them until the hunter shows up, and the hunter only shows up in the bonus. So the base game is a waiting room with a paytable: you are spinning for scatters, and Pragmatic knows it.

Two small mercies keep the wait from being dead air. When exactly two scatters land, a random respin can drop the scatter reels one position and spin the others again, or a hook can drag a reel upward to reveal a third scatter. Neither is frequent, but both are more than most Pragmatic base games offer.

Free spins: the modifier wheel, then the hunt

Three, four or five scatters award 10, 15 or 20 free spins. Before the round starts, a wheel spins to hand out between zero and five modifiers. The wheel has six segments and one of them is a boot — the game’s polite way of saying “nothing this time”. The other five are the whole strategy of the feature:

  • More Ducks — extra money symbols on the reel strips.
  • More Hunters — extra wilds on the reel strips, which is the modifier you actually want.
  • More Ammo — a higher chance of the “hunting spree” shoot-the-reels feature.
  • Start from Level 2 — the round opens with the 2x collection multiplier already active.
  • +2 Spins — two extra spins at the start and two extra on every retrigger.

The modifier wheel. Six segments, one boot, five upgrades.

Inside the round the hunter is the wild. He substitutes for everything except the scatter, and each hunter that lands collects every money value on the screen. Hunters do not disappear after collecting: they are counted, and every fourth hunter retriggers the feature with 10 more spins and a bigger collection multiplier — 2x at level two, 3x at level three, 10x at level four. The retriggered spins are played after the current batch, the multiplier applies to them, and after level four the ladder is closed.

Pragmatic added three random assists so the bonus does not die of bad luck. If hunters land with no ducks, money ducks can be shot onto the reels or the whole screen can be re-rolled around the hunters; if ducks land with no hunter, a hook drags a reel to bring one in. They are cosmetic in name and mathematical in effect: the feature reaches the 10x level more often than the raw symbol frequencies would suggest.

Three scatters, and two ducks already carrying $10 and $100 tags that will only matter once a hunter appears.

Super Free Spins and the 1,000x ducks

The “1000” in the name is the top money value, and the Super Free Spins buy is built around it. Pay 450x your bet and the game states plainly that “the chance for money symbols with value 1000x total bet is increased”. In practice the round opens with a “Super Ducks added to spins” banner and golden 1,000x ducks are stitched into the reel strips for the whole feature. One golden duck collected at level four is 10,000x on its own — which is why the 12,500x cap exists and why you will hit it more often from this buy than from the natural trigger.

The standard buy is 100x for a normal feature with a normal wheel. The RTP difference between the two buys is a rounding error (96.53% vs 96.51%), so the choice is purely about variance: the 450x buy is a lottery ticket with a real ceiling, the 100x buy is a lottery ticket with a lower one.

Ante Bet: double the stake, not double the fun

The Double Chance toggle switches the bet multiplier from 10x to 20x — your $2 spin becomes $4 — in exchange for more scatters on the reels and a naturally higher trigger rate. While it is on, the buy button is disabled. The RTP nudges up by a hundredth of a percent, which is nothing. Whether it is worth it depends on how you like to lose money: slowly with more bonuses, or at the normal pace with fewer. On a fixed test bankroll we left it off — the feature buy is the more honest route to the bonus, because you know the price before you pay it.

RTP, volatility and what 12,500x really means

96.52% is a respectable default and, notably, all four ways of playing sit within 0.02% of each other. Stake runs the version shown in the in-game rules; we could not check whether lower RTP builds exist for this title because no other casino carries it.

The volatility label is High, and it plays high in the modern Pragmatic sense: the base game grinds, the bonus decides. Our test session (the screenshots on this page) had one natural trigger at a $2 bet — three scatters, a More Ammo modifier off the wheel — and one $900 Super Free Spins buy that filled the reels with golden ducks. Neither round came anywhere near the cap; the buy round was the swingier of the two, exactly as the design intends.

One correction for the record. Stake’s game card lists a 25,000x max win. The rules screen inside the game says 12,500x, twice, and the rules screen is what pays. We go with the rules.

Playing it: notes from the lake

The hunter is the same big-bearded fellow from the fishing games with a shotgun instead of a rod, and the beagle steals every animation he appears in. The soundtrack is banjo-adjacent and stays out of the way. Turbo spin and the Hyperplay button keep the base game moving, which matters here because the base game is not where the money is.

What I liked: the modifier wheel gives the bonus a personality before the first spin, and “Start from Level 2” plus “+2 Spins” together change the math of a round noticeably. What I did not like: the base game is filler, the 1,000x ducks are a marketing number more than a regular event, and the exclusivity means you cannot shop around for a demo or a better bonus at another casino.

Pros and cons

Pros Cons
96.52% RTP with no meaningful drop for buys or Ante Bet Base game is a waiting room — nothing collects until the bonus
Modifier wheel adds real variety to every bonus Stake exclusive: no demo elsewhere, no shopping for better terms
Two buy levels at 100x and 450x, RTP almost identical 12,500x cap is smaller than the Nolimit ducks (30,000x+)

Similar duck slots

The obvious sibling is Big Duck Bonanza, the low-volatility version of the same lake with a 2,100x cap and a 2,000x top duck. For the shooting-gallery feel with a fatter ceiling, Ducks Till Dawn pays up to 15,595x, and Nolimit’s Duck Hunters takes the same hunter-versus-duck idea to 30,000x. Gamomat’s Duck Shooter is the budget classic if you just want to shoot ducks without a bankroll plan.

FAQ

What is the RTP of Big Duck Splash 1000?
96.52% in the base game, 96.53% with Ante Bet or the standard buy, and 96.51% with the Super Free Spins buy — all from the in-game rules.

What is the max win?
12,500x the total bet. The round ends immediately when a win reaches the cap and any remaining free spins are forfeited.

Where can I play Big Duck Splash 1000?
Only at Stake — the game is a Stake exclusive. Fun Play (demo) mode is available there.

How much does the bonus buy cost?
100x the bet for standard Free Spins and 450x for Super Free Spins with a higher chance of 1,000x ducks.

Is it the same as Big Bass Splash?
Mechanically it is the duck-themed twin: money symbols, a collecting wild, retriggers every fourth wild and a 2x/3x/10x multiplier ladder. The wheel of modifiers and the 1,000x ducks are the “1000”-series additions.

Verdict: 8.1/10

A polished, high-volatility money-collect slot with one of the better bonus-round designs in the Pragmatic catalogue and a fair RTP across every mode. It loses points for a flat base game, a ceiling that trails the Nolimit ducks, and an exclusivity deal that removes your choice of where to play it. If you are already at Stake, it is the best duck on the shelf there; if you are not, Big Duck Bonanza is the gentler way in and our ranking has plenty of ducks that swim in more than one pond.
